Abstract

The article is devoted to little studied K. Orff’s opera-oratorio «Die Bernauerin». The author seeks to identify the reasons for the composer's appeal to a medieval ballad as a literary basis of the libretto and also determine the meaning of the «controlled crowd» in the selected work.
